More Fungi

We had so much fun yesterday looking at fungi in the bush, and since it was so cool this morning, we went out to look again. Here is what we found.

The Destroying Angel

This morning, after learning about "Attentiveness" in Character, and reviewing the LEM Multiple Phonograms, we went outside to do some skipping. Zac got interested in the toadstools on the lawn nearby so he went and got the Macmillan Visual Dictionary and found the page on mushrooms.

We think that this is the "Destroying Angel" mushroom, but are not 100% sure as we are in Northern Australia and this dictionary was published in New York. We then went and searched on Google and found this interesting site. We read an article about a man who ate this deadly mushroom and only just survived.

Zac & Aaron drew a picture of it in their nature journals.

We went over to Nanna's caravan and asked her for some rubber gloves so we could pick the mushroom and investigate it further. She didn't have any, but told us about more she had seen on her morning walk nearby, so we went to have a look.

There were some really large ones there in the bush.

Zac picked the biggest one to look underneath it.

Nanna was interested too. She and Zac went for a walk and found lots more different types of fungi.

Being the wet season in the Kimberley is perfect weather for fungi to grow.
